EOS POWER technology can result in weakened defences for IBM software, hardware and the underlying operating system. Once technology reaches EOS IBM will no longer bear responsibility of creating patches and fixes to prevent cybersecurity breaches and other security vulnerabilities.

POWER9 boxes have up to 50% more performance than POWER8 boxes in default ship mode. Further, compared to POWER7+, POWER9 offers over 2xmore per core capacity. Live partition mobility on POWER9 is also up to 5x faster than POWER8, with the on-chip accelerator coupling compression and encryption together, providing significant performance improvements.
